Family in Paihia

A family day out in the north of the North Is in New Zealand at a lovely spot called Paihia. The children were quite small, but loved being so close to the waterfall.
In this page I tried out a new idea{for me ..lol} of a distressed circle for the basis of the LO. I cut a circle and then distressed and ripped the edges. I have used a couple of butterflies that I sourced from swirlydoos . There are tons of beautiful butterflies in all colours and sizes to print and use as you want.
The dark blue flowers I have hand made and the leaves are cut out using a cutting template by Heartfrlt Creation ( Spellbinders designed). These little leaves have lots of wee curly bits on them and can be left in place or snipped off. I tend to cut them off as they are a bit "fussy" for some of my LO but here I have left them on as they are pretty in blue

Fairy world

Stamping these cards were so much fun. In the fantasy world anything is possible (right!) I have used stamps from lavinia stamps . These were featured in the Jan 2012 craft stamper magazine and I was enthralled so just had to give it a go. Tracey Dutton is one talented lady and lavinia stamps offer a great selection of pixies, fairies, toadstools, flowers and vegetation etc.
Colour is sponged around the edges or  using a brayer, until you get the depth you desire. The moon is created using a circle of any size and you sponge around this until you achieve the magical look you want.
You can create hills by ripping a piece of paper and laying in on the card and sponge until you get the desired depth and shadow.

Finished off with a little bit of Kiddy Glitz,on the dandelions and a similar theme and sentiment inside the card

Ian and Susan

As was often the case with old photos they are pretty small. This is the original photo of my mum and her brother when they must have been about 4-5yrs old.   I did not want to over power the photo too much.
I put together a couple of complementing papers and over the paper join placed a matching strip of ribbon. The candlelabra is a cut out from a set of cards and the adornments are rub ons.All in all  it is simple but effective. Sometimes "less is more"

Family

Some times it is good to work with those pages that don't require too much to be added. This paper was out of a Christmas pad of papers and it was pretty bright [though a bit hard to tell from the photos. I cut an oval shape out from the middle and placed the photo from behind. The edges were roughened up, a couple of rub on sentiments added and some flowers. I guess I wasn't feeling too inspired this day,but the end result is really quite pleasant
